Friday Night Freakout

Presented by The Oui Doctor

The Freakout is back! RFC's Friday Night Freakout series brings you the best of modern and classic cult movies, art films, and generally freaky films. These are the films you've asked for and our programmers love, but are too dangerous for a full run. The bar in Abby Singer's Bistro will be serving a themed cocktail special.


Heels and Reels

Presented by Shed it Weight Loss Center

This monthly dinner-and-a-movie series for women presents a popular movie and offers an elegant buffet dinner with a cash bar. The evening also features trivia and prize giveaways. Providing a casual atmosphere for film appreciation, the series offers diverse title selections. RFC presents the movie on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. in RFC’s events space on the second floor — doors open at 5:45. Tickets: $29, dinner and a movie ($22, RFC members).


Regional Filmmakers Spotlight

This series showcases emerging and talented independent filmmakers from Louisiana and the South. It also highlights the growth of Louisiana’s indigenous independent film industry. The guest filmmaker shows his or her work to RFC members and patrons and participates in a Q&A session. Screenings are presented six times throughout the year. Tickets: $6.50-$10.50


Rewind

Be it a cult classic or a superhero gem, a Rewind movie has earned its place in history by cultivating a passionate fanbase and putting a strange and wonderful mark on cinema. Movie-lovers gather to celebrate uniquely memorable movies – from Alien to Batman, Jaws to Gremlins. After a hiatus, Rewind is making an appearance at RFC with exciting pop-up screenings!


Silver Screening

Presented by Professional Sitter Services

This matinee and luncheon for senior citizens showcases a classic film and provides an opportunity to explore the best of Hollywood’s past. Silver Screenings aims to offer a place for moviegoers to both celebrate classic film and discuss its value to their personal lives. Selections are drawn from the Hollywood classics generally made before 1975. RFC presents the series on the third Tuesday of each month. The movie begins at 10:30 a.m. and is followed immediately by a buffet lunch. 


PERIODIC SERIES & PROGRAMS

Book Lovers Supper Club

What’s better than a good meal? A great book. Or is it vice versa? You don’t have to argue, because we’re combining both loves. Read a great book then talk about it while we enjoy a great meal. RFC offers Book Lovers’ Supper Club for readers who want to explore the movies, the arts and our connected world through literature. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. Tickets: $23, dinner and discussion ($16, RFC members).


Centenary Film Series

Since opening in 2008, RFC has partnered with Centenary College to present Centenary Film Society’s Film Series. This showcase of independent, international and documentary cinema has been a part of Centenary College’s culture since 1983. In the past, Centenary Film Society has teamed with the college's Frost School of Business to present films examining business and energy, the Friends of the Algur Meadows Museum to present films on art and artists, as well as Centenary's Department of Foreign Languages and the Cultural Services of the Embassy of France to present French cinema.


Date Night

Dinner-and-movie nights aren't just for our Heels & Reels ladies! Date Night offers an elegant buffet dinner with a cash bar. The evening also features trivia and prize giveaways. Providing a casual atmosphere for film appreciation, the series offers diverse title selections. RFC presents the Date Night screening on the second Tuesday of each month. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. in RFC’s events space on the second floor — doors open at 5:45. Faith on Film

Faith on Film brings together area clergy members from different religions and denominations to have a conversation about film through the lens of their faiths. Guest clergy members at Faith on Film screenings have included B’nai Zion Congregation Rabbi Jana De Benedetti, First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport pastors Rev. Dr. Chris Currie and Rev. Seth Saathoff, Dr. Sanjay Menon with Sadhu Vaswani Hindu Temple, and Sr. Sharon Rambin of Sisters for Christian Community. Tickets: $6.50-$10.50.


Family Matinee

We want parents and grandparents to pass down the love of movies to their kids. Through our monthly Family Matinees, we screen classic family films where parents can introduce their children to the films they loved as kids. RFC presents the series on the second Saturday. Arrive a little early for a chance to win preshow prizes. Select months include brunch at Abby Singer’s Bistro.


Food for Thought

Robinson Film Center’s audience members are fine connoisseurs of both great film and great food. This series brings together the best of both worlds with movies about food and drink, paired with delicious dinners from the staff at Abby Singer’s Bistro.

Science on Screen

An initiative of the Coolidge Corner Theatre with major support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation

Science on Screen is a national series that creatively pairs current, classic, cult, and documentary films with discussions by notable figures from the world of science, technology, and medicine. RFC is proud to be one of art houses participating in Science on Screen, an initiative of the Coolidge Corner Theatre with major support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. 


Soul Cinema

Presented by The Social Circle

RFC’s Soul Cinema Series presents popular films celebrating African-American cinema. Each screening will include an elegant buffet dinner and a chance to win prizes in trivia as well as a cash bar and themed cocktail special. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. in RFC’s events space on the second floor — doors open at 5:45. Tickets: $29, dinner and a movie ($22, RFC members).


Soundtrax

We love music lovers and movie lovers at RFC, and this series combines the two with music documentaries, concert films and more.
